Solstice

“WHO is there to take up my duties?” asked the setting sun.
“I shall do what I can, my Master,” said the earthen lamp.
 -Tagore

Those lyrical words by a favourite 19th century poet continue to capture
the inspiration for our designs.

Our compositions are a result of an appreciation of daily life: elements from
nature, art, literature, the human spirit AND their juxtaposition with
light play.

Inspired, we utilize heritage
artisanal “slow process” techniques to craft our pieces
in small batches, (or one-off/one-of-a-kind pieces) without the use of any commercial machinery.

Our objective is to make beautiful yet functional art objects by
combining
primarily 2 centuries-old mediums: candle wax and stained glass.

The stained glass, paired with the luminosity of a soft candle glow, makes for
a unique,
sublime combination.

Being
reusable with simple little tea-lights makes it even better!

Marko & I hand-craft each candle lantern with our own blend of waxes,
juxtaposed with our exquisite selection of breathtaking architectural stained glass,
with its classic, enduring,
never-fading beauty.

The unique
union generates an enchanting light play through the various characteristics-
patterns, textures, gradients and colours of the select glass, contrasted yet complimented
by the soft, timeless, luminosity of a flickering candle ambiance.

Further, our extensive
"What Matters" line is a collection of hand-scripted
expressive text, laced with either profundity, fun cheekiness or inspiration...
adding a layered personal touch, mindfully illuminating & perhaps rich with
meaning, depth.

As artists, we endeavour to share inspiration and narratives that we hope may resonate...
and in providing warm, loyal
companionship.

Each boxed in an upscale, elegant presentation in recyclable packaging... ready to give.
Complete with starter tea-lights, metal/cork bottom & care guide... ready to use!

We are always creating something new, keeping things relevant and
fresh.
Each year, we offer new designs that evoke peace, happiness.
Hope to see you sometime soon!

A personal brief essay on visiting art shows
It is always a pleasure in sharing good vibes and stories in person over 22 years
with both returning & new patrons and seeing the light in your eyes when we meet.
That individual
human connectivity never gets old!

It is said that art has a way of bringing the world together - with the means of the arts and culture,
we may become a little closer to building sustainable and vibrant, healthier connected communities.

And bonus, interaction with art is said to stimulate our senses and mind, which as it turns out,
seems to have therapeutic effects to the brain, especially as we age, fostering a healthy life balance.

Personally, we find it inspiring and engaging, however limited or brief the experience!
Visiting art shows facilitate seeing recent works up close & personal in all dimensions,
sharing our individual perspectives, and perhaps discovering something new that
hopefully fascinates, exhilarates and
rejuvenates our collective spirit.

As a result, we are grateful to be part of this ephemeral village of local communities coming together,
mutually thriving in these unique interactive experiences... where we may each benefit,
with hopefully gentle or fierce inspiration for us all, as we carry on our days forward.
